Newport News is a city that heavily treasures its history. Here you will be able to not only visit historical sites, but you will have the opportunity to relive some of the amazing historical events that took place in this very city. Newport News Regional Park is presently the largest municipal park east of the Mississippi River, but each of the city's parks, not matter how large or how small, offer activities for the young and old. You can fish, travel through the bike and hiking trails, there are excellent places for a picnic, play in one of the basketball courts, tennis course, soccer fields, participate in disc golf, or softball. Plus there are year-round programs for families that include bird watching, nature programs, and 2 golf courses.
